Greetings Friends!What a wild ride it has been—whirling through the high energy of the season in the northern hemisphere, while also greeting the slowing of our thoughts and minds with Mercury in retrograde. What a juxtaposition, and yet an opportunity to rewind and replay the way we are processing the world around us. Be gentle with yourself. This is a highly emotional mercury retrograde that can stir up things at home and surface memories from childhood. Think of it as an opening to witness the ways your inner child wants to be nurtured. Take the time to tune into your inner child. What are you needing today? Is it more playfulness? Vitamin rich foods? Physical touch? Gentle conversation? Listen to the inner whisper, often there is a clear need waiting to be met. It’s a perfect time to slow down and listen. This is also a time to reflect upon how we nurture others. With the New Moon in Cancer on July 14th connected to this Mercury retrograde, let’s set intentions that help us feel well-held at home, in our most intimate relationships, and in sharing the abundance of the season. For this New Moon, ask yourself – How receptive and open am I to the emotional needs of the people closest to me (i.e. partners, children, friends, parents, or siblings)? Is something calling my attention, something I can adjust so I can feel more available, more in alignment to my emotions and then more open to another? List out the values you carry for your home life and your intimate relationships. Sit with these answers. Reflect and journal them. Make watery art with them. Cultivate cozy and welcoming spaces in your home where you feel well-held. It doesn’t have to be much. Create a sit spot where you can relax fully, wrapped in a fuzzy blanket or near the cooling breeze of a fan. Use this space to check in daily with your thought patterns, read and reflect on your journaling. How can you side step the looping emotions? Can you move your breath and bring your mind into connection with your heart center? It can be that simple. Take 5 minutes (or longer) each day to breathe with intention into your heart. You can do this by taking a deep breath, bringing your awareness to your expanding heart center, and imagine the liquid light of your heart expanding and radiating out in any color that comes to you. Listen to the beat of your heart, the natural drumming of it, and let it resonate in your mind. Exhale and repeat. This is a wonderful practice to come back into your heart centered self. In the northern hemisphere it is a beautiful time for gardening, and for sharing the season's bounty with friends and family. Pick wildflowers. Take long baths. Swim in a lake or river. Bathe and nurture your body. Cook nutritious meals for yourself and your family. And try to let go of the nitpicking we tend to do with our closest people (Venus conjunct South Node in Virgo). Practice being fully present at the table. This is a year of remembrance: that our minds are meant to resonate and work from our heart. We are being asked to remember how to speak, think, feel, and act in alignment with our hearts. This is deeply important at this time. The world feels more chaotic each day, and yet we can choose to come back to our hearts again and again. That is where we can find internal balance. This New Moon in Cancer is linked (by semisextile) to the upcoming full solar eclipse August 12th. Creating more loving action within ourselves will help balance the intensity of this eclipse that’s calling world leaders to the stage. Let us cultivate love and joy, and radiate it out into the world.
