Hello Dear Ones,We’re in eclipse season with the first of two eclipses tomorrow. It is a total solar eclipse visible in Greenland, Iceland and Northern Spain on Wednesday August 12th at 10:36am PST, 1:36pm EST and 6:36pm UTC. ✨What are Eclipses? Eclipses occur when the new moon (solar eclipse) or the full moon (lunar eclipse) align with the moon’s nodes. The north and south nodes are the intersection of the moon’s orbit with the earth’s orbit around the sun. To many ancient civilizations around the world, eclipses appeared ominous and were revered for the unknown and unseen power of the cosmos. Who wouldn’t get a little worked up when the light source OF ALL LIGHT SOURCES, the Sun, is dimmed or blocked out by a solar eclipse or when our nurturing mother moon is darkened in the night sky? For thousands of years, humans have witnessed shifts, discovered patterns and mapped predictive experiences of eclipse influences here on earth. In modern times, we tend to have less fear of an eclipse. Through experience we know that adaptation occurs. And yet, we are still in awe of the phenomenal astronomy and visual change an eclipse can bring to the sky. ✨Eclipses are portals in time. They shift the energetic field by scattering our fixed energy (our sense of control) on earth. This can help us unstick, break free, and release old patterns and open to new ways. Like any portal, there is liminal space felt leading up to and closing the eclipse season. This liminal space can be felt two weeks before and after an eclipse (typically eclipses come in pairs— one solar and one lunar). This can be extended further out to 3 or even 4 weeks, for those of us with personal planets or sensitive points in direct alignment with the eclipse. We don’t always embrace change willingly. Eclipses provide opportunities for change and openings for shifts to occur. Without them life would feel rigid and constricted with less forward movement of growth, acceptance, expansion and leaps of faith. Eclipses provide an opportunity to lay something down that is no longer serving us and to open up to something new. It is a time to trust synchronicities and be in the flow of life and how it wants to move through us. ✨This Full Solar Eclipse is at 20 degrees Leo conjunct the south node. This New Moon in Leo is intensified with an eclipse. Aligning us with something we need to release that is no longer needed (south node). Perhaps some aspect of us that makes us overly confident or even bombastic at times. What aspect of our life requires an audience to applaud and encourage us so that we might feel worthy, lovable or need I say, so that we feel we BELONG? This is where we can focus on deeper self care and compassion for ourselves and one another. Replacing the need to be seen in order to feel worthy. Let’s hold on to the vision of love and compassion and expand it out to the collective, for the whole of mankind. This is the direction of this eclipse. Moving us out of any self-serving visions and dreams towards the needs for the whole of society and of humankind (north node in Aquarius). We are directed to help heal the untended wounds of humanity, mothering and nurturing each other to reach our highest state of collective consciousness and care for ALL (Chiron sextile north node, Chiron sextile Mars and Mars trine North Node). We are motivated by our feelings during this eclipse. Let us use this constructively towards a greater vision of what could be good for all, being mindful of our reactivity that stems from past wounds or injured parts of us. Try your best to keep your feet on the earth. Ground and breath. There is very little earth element represented in this eclipse and we can get caught up in the air, fire, water elements that want us to take action around our emotional triggers. Stop and breathe. Think of Chiron the wounded hero who worked as a healer and compassionate teacher. ✨Major Aspects of this Eclipse. This eclipse has tension around the way we love and want to be loved, what we value in relationships as the desirous planet of Venus opposes Neptune, the higher octave of spiritual or divine love that is initiating a new dream in a bold way (Neptune in Aries). How can we support a new dream of love and acceptance of ALL beings that revolutionizes our relationships with each other, and with our closest intimates? Neptune, Pluto and Venus are asking us to lay the groundwork for a new dream that moves us away from individualized needs and desires towards a more collective, empowered and supportive vision. We are asked to let go of old constructs that were hastily built out of the need for security and not serving all people (Saturn square the nodes). We must shed the old mindset that bigger is better and that grandiose leadership is how we get to be center stage in our own lives (Mercury conjunct Jupiter opposing Pluto). This is an intense aspect for leadership roles we play in our community and those privileged enough to lead countries on the world stage. This is old dogma that can no longer stand as Pluto moves us into unity consciousness and out of individualized power for just a few. ✨How can we step into more alignment with what is being asked of us? Dare to look in the mirror and truly see yourself. Soften your gaze and really look. Compassionately look. Then ask yourself, how do I separate myself from people around me? We all carry ways we ‘other’ each other. We all find aspects of ourselves we want to hide from. The cringe thoughts that make us feel better then. I dare you to literally take out a mirror and look. Stare bravely and face all of you as fully as you can. Grab a pen and pad of paper and write, make lists, draw, allow yourself to explore without filter what comes up as you ask yourself how do I ‘other’ people around me? How do I separate myself from another as I watch ‘them’ walk down the street or stand in the checkout line in front of me? Be gentle with yourself. This is not a practice of self shame. It is a practice of building self awareness and I personally plan to do it too. After you’ve spent some time journaling, read what you wrote. What patterns or systemic themes emerge? Can you find a root to it? Is it longing to belong to something, someone or society as a whole? Is there an element of safety that arises in you? Is it out of safety or fear that we put one another in a container, a label, a framework? Whatever is coming up for you, it is likely what this eclipse is highlighting to release, surrender and leave behind. It is old dogma. Old structures of control and now we are stepping into something new TOGETHER. Let us all find ways we can take steps towards a more accepting and loving place for ALL.
